I can't believe she's 9 months old already.....last week at her checkup she's 19.6 lbs and I forget how many inches. At 6 months she was 89% for weight and like 52% for height. Now she's 50% for weight and 50% for height. Can't say I'm surprised that she's slimmed down....since she never stops moving. But she also eats like a pig!
So her newest achievements/cutesies (I know that isn't a word)....I wish I could get these all on video to just show you...but of course the camera's never around at just the right moment
-pulling up on EVERYTHING....stationary and non-stationary objects. It amazes me how little fear she has....or maybe just ignorance of the concept of falling (maybe a good instance when ignorance is bliss?) She pulls up on the rocking chair....the couch...coffee table (it's round...so no sharp corners to worry about)...the piano to hit the keys....the gate up in the kitchen doorway....your legs when you stand nearby. She's VERY determined about it. (Totally adorable!)
-she won't eat babyfood anymore...it has to be things she can pick up with her fingers....no more feeding off a spoon. (an independent streak already?!)
-we're teaching her signs...and so far she's mastered milk & "all done"....is doing better with "more" & "eat/hungry"- it's heart-melting to see her standing in the doorway with Daddy when I get home from work vigorously and enthusiastically doing the milk sign to me (and she has a one track mind!)
-we've skipped over sippy cups entirely...she won't drink out of one. She'd rather drink from a straw...which she does quite well as long as the straw isn't too fat in diameter (then she tends to cough/gag/spew)
-army crawl is mastered (although not as amusing looking as Andrew's)
-she doesn't like you to catch her sleeping.....if she falls asleep in the car driving....when you stop and go to gently take her out (hoping desperately she'll stay asleep and making shopping easier)...she startles awake and immediately starts jabbering like she wants to prove to you that she wasn't really tired at all.... (it made me giggle tonight)
-Daddy has taught her to bat her eyelashes.....if you do it in her direction...she imitates back with an exaggerated face-scrinching attempt at batting/blinking....it's the cutest thing in the world....(I tried to warn Aaron he's going to wish later he hadn't taught her that when she's doing it for the boys)
-she's doing high-fives....(Brendan got that idea started).....and tonight she grabbed my hand so she could start clapping fives on it....
-there isn't much point in spending a lot of money on toys (a helpful tidbit we've discovered)....she'd much rather play with our stuff than any of her shiniest noisiest toys....checkbook...chapstick....pens....library books.....etc
-she dances when she hears music.....it's quite cute!....her little body rocking/gyrating.....maybe she'll have my musical streak?
And I have to leave all this to go to work every day....sigh. I can relate to Aaron's feeling the other night.....he got home from work and was bummed that she was already in bed asleep....and he couldn't get a cuddle and giggle in. Who knew a cute little bundle could change our lives so profoundly?!

Keep enjoying every moment. It goes by fast. Nothing new, just reaffirming what you already know. It makes me smile to know she makes you giggle. :)
Amazing how they win your hearts so completely, isn't it? It's hard to imagine what you did without kids! She sounds like she's just getting cuter and cuter! Can't wait to see her again! :)
